WHAT IS THE MAINTENANCE?
It is recommended to check the turbine once a year to check, mainly: its moving parts, tightening of screws, greasing of bearings in the transmission case, and repair of possible rust points in the different metal elements of the wind turbine.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ASSEMBLE A TURBINE?
Once the turbine has been fixed, it can be installed in four hours.
WHAT IS THE ORDER AND PROCESS OF INSTALLATION?
- The company must be contacted either directly on the telephone number +34 941 582042, through our website www.kliux.com or by writing an email to info@kliux.com.
- Once a minimum of information has been obtained, a study will be carried out to find out the feasibility of installing a turbine: location, anchoring forms, available winds, legislation, etc.
- If the study is favorable, we will present the budget or technical and economic proposal for approval.
- We would proceed to apply for the required permissions and design the anchor form.
- Carrying out the small civil works (concrete footing if it is on the ground) and the necessary channelling for the connection wiring.
- Between 3 weeks and 1 month later the installation would be assembled and connected.
It is recommended to check the turbine once a year to check, mainly: the tightening of the wiring connections, communication systems and control electronics as well as the repair of possible rust points in the different metal elements of the wind turbine.
DOES KLiUX OFFER FOUNDATION DESIGN AND INSTALLATION?
Yes, KLiUX can offer you the turnkey power solution through the authorized installers. It provides both the shape and plans to manufacture the anchor shoe of its turbines (either on the ground or on a building) and its installation by specialized personnel.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET INSTALLATION PERMITS? CAN KLiUX HELP ME?
Installation permits depend on local regulations, managed by the corresponding municipality. KLiUX or its authorized installers can take care of the necessary arrangements for you.
APART FROM THE TURBINE ITSELF, WHAT OTHER EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
The turbine needs the appropriate control electronics according to the type of installation to be implemented (isolated or connected to the electricity grid): Wind Inverter, Wind Controller, Discharge and Braking Resistance.
CAN I INSTALL THE TURBINE ON TOP OF AN EXISTING BUILDING?
Yes, you can. However, a prior study of the structure of the building must be carried out to determine whether additional reinforcement would be necessary on it or to evaluate the method of fixation.
CAN I EXPORT ELECTRICITY TO THE GRID?
Yes. We have the necessary control electronics to discharge all the energy generated into the conventional electricity grid. It also depends to a large extent on the regulations applicable in each country.
HOW MANY TURBINES ARE CURRENTLY INSTALLED?
To date, we have installed turbines throughout Spain and in different countries such as Mexico, USA, Germany, Denmark and Norway: in inland areas, coasts and islands, for various applications, public and private, private and business.
HOW CAN I GET A QUOTE?
You can do this either directly by calling +34 941 582042, via our website www.kliux.com or by writing an email to info@kliux.com.
WHAT IS THE CAPACITY FACTOR OF A VERTICAL AXIS WIND TURBINE?
This value depends on the energy that has actually been obtained in a year at a site. Depending on it, the capacity factor varies very significantly based on the average annual wind at each site.
WHAT IS THE SWEEP AREA OF THE KLiUX ZEBRA-Plus AND KLiUX DRAGON?
The sweep area of the KLiUX ZEBRA-Plus rotor is 12 m2, equivalent to a diameter of 3.82 m in a horizontal shaft turbine.
The sweep area of the KLiUX DRAGON rotor is 16 m2, equivalent to a diameter of 5.52 m in a horizontal shaft turbine.
DOES THE TURBINE HAVE ANY NEGATIVE IMPACT ON BIRDS?
No. It is one of the unique aspects of KLiUX Vertical Shaft Turbines (VAWT). As they rotate slowly and are easily visible to birds, they do not pose a risk of collisions.
IS THE TURBINE SUITABLE FOR MARINE ENVIRONMENTS?
Yes. KLiUX turbines are protected with a two-component Epoxy/Zinc primer that is particularly suitable for projects exposed to marine environments and faced with the demanding corrosion, salinity and humidity conditions typical of coastal and industrial areas. Currently, a large number of our wind turbines have been installed in different marinas and coastal areas.
CAN WIND MONITORING BE PROVIDED AT OUR PROPOSED SITE?
With the installation of each turbine, we always provide a weather station with Sonic Anemometer that allows us to collect all the information regarding the wind direction, wind intensity, wind averages at each intensity level and historical data collected.
IS MORE ENERGY ACHIEVED BY INSTALLING THE TURBINE ON THE GROUND OR ON A ROOF?
With the same wind characteristics, the same energy is achieved if the turbine is at the same height. In both cases, efforts should always be made to avoid nearby obstacles that lead to a loss of productivity. A study prior to the installation of the turbine will determine the optimal location and solution.
CAN THE TURBINE BE USED IN OFF-GRID SYSTEMS OR SHOULD IT ALWAYS BE CONNECTED TO THE MAINS?
Both options are possible. We have different solutions for both cases.
WHAT IS THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF THE TURBINE?
Unlike large wind turbines, KLiUX’s vertical axis turbines (VAWTs) do not cause any environmental impact because they generate almost no noise, are low-head, not bulky and easily detectable by birds.
Additionally, they can blend in with the environment by applying suitable adhesives or paints to both the mast and the rotor blades.
WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF THE DESIGN?
KLiUX’s wind turbines have an estimated service life of 25 years.
HOW FAR APART SHOULD THE INSTALLED TURBINES BE FROM EACH OTHER?
The spacing between the machines depends on where the wind is coming from:
- In areas with variable wind direction throughout the year, the recommended distance between wind turbines, in all directions, will be 8 m.
- In areas with a prevailing wind direction throughout the year, the recommended distances between wind turbines will be 12 m in the prevailing direction and 7 m in the perpendicular direction.
- To install turbines at a variable height, the recommended distance between the lower base of the highest and the upper base of the lowest is 2 m.
WHAT IS THE MASS OF THE KLiUX ZEBRA-Plus TURBINE?
Weight of rotor + generator and transmission: 475 kg. Mast weight from 351 kg to 850 kg.
WHAT ARE THE NOISE AND VIBRATION CHARACTERISTICS?
The noise produced at a distance of 10 meters and with winds of 6 m/s is 32.6 dB, while with winds of 10 m/s it is 47.2 dB, both values being below the established legal limits (60 dB during the day and 50 dB at night).
WHAT IS THE ON/OFF WIND SPEED?
he wind speed at which the turbine is connected is 3 m/s, while the speed at which it is disconnected is not applicable because the machine, due to its own aerodynamics, limits its maximum rotational speed, being able to continue producing energy while conventional turbines have to stop.
WHAT IS THE POWER RATING OF THE KLiUX ZEBRA-Plus?
The rated power of this turbine is 4 kW.
HOW MUCH ENERGY DOES THE KLiUX ZEBRA-Plus GENERATE IN 1 YEAR?
The energy generated by the wind turbine is strongly dependent on the average annual wind speed. Thus, in a site with an annual average of 4 m/s, the energy produced is 3,053 kWh/year, while with 6 m/s it is multiplied to exceed 9,799 kWh/year. KLiUX’s technical team adapts the turbine according to the average wind speed of the site to obtain the maximum possible production.
WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE KLiUX ZEBRA-Plus wind turbine?
10 meters of mast plus blades of 3.90 meters high and a rotor diameter of 3.10 meters. The height of the mast can be increased or reduced if necessary, depending on whether the installation is on the ground or on a rooftop.
HOW CAN I DISTRIBUTE, SELL, INSTALL, PROMOTE, OR RECEIVE A MANUFACTURING LICENSE FOR THE TURBINES?
You can find out more directly by calling +34 941 582042, via our website www.kliux.com or by writing an email to info@kliux.com.
WHAT IS THE WARRANTY PERIOD?
We offer a minimum 3-year warranty on all components, which can be extended at the customer’s request.
WHERE ARE THE TURBINES MANUFACTURED?
The wind turbine is manufactured entirely in Spain by us and is finally assembled at our plant in Albelda de Iregua (La Rioja). Other complementary components such as electronics, weather station/sonic anemometer, are purchased both in Spain and in other countries.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET INSTALLATION PERMITS?
The formalities required for the installation of the turbine depend on local regulations. The first thing to do is to consult the corresponding town hall. The authorized KLiUX installer will be able to answer this question on a case-by-case basis.
WHERE CAN I INSTALL A KLiUX WIND TURBINE?
KLiUX wind turbines can be located in both rural and urban environments, either on the ground or directly on a sufficiently resistant roof.
The absence of noise allows it to be installed in residential or urban areas.
HOW SHOULD I USE THE ENERGY THAT IS GENERATED?
It will be the type of energy consumption that you have or whether or not you have a connection to the grid that establishes what is the optimal way to take advantage of the energy and consequently to size an installation appropriately, incorporating complementary generation systems such as solar photovoltaic or a battery bank if necessary.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF KLIUX ENERGIES TURBINES?
- It is always oriented to the wind.
- It takes advantage of all kinds of winds and air currents: directional, gusty, turbulent, upward…
- It has a low starting torque starting to rotate at 3.5 meters/second (12.6 km/h).
- Auto limits its maximum turning speed due to its aerodynamic profile, making it unnecessary to brake.
- It requires virtually zero maintenance due to the simplicity of its structure and generator mechanics.
- Noise is practically negligible, which enables its integration into residential and urban environments. Sound pressure level at 10 meters distance is 32.6 dBA with winds of 6m/sec and 47.2 dBA with winds of 10m/sec.
- It can be installed on the ground or on the deck, in 4 hours.
- Due to its slow rotation speed, it is an excellent advertising medium, which also generates energy with natural resources.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AVERAGE WIND SPEED I NEED? HOW CAN I FIND OUT IF MY LOCATION MEETS THE MINIMUM SPEED REQUIREMENTS?
It starts rotating at a speed of 3.5 meters/second (12.6 km/h) and generating energy from 4 m/s. You can find out the average wind speed at that point by installing an anemometer for approximately 3 months. Another, less accurate possibility is to consult nearby weather stations or wind maps such as those offered by IDAE.
