Kliux unveils the first vertical axis wind turbine developed exclusively with Spanish technology

The President of the Autonomous Government of La Rioja has visited today the first installation of renewable energy developed by this company based in La Rioja

The President of the Autonomous Government of La Rioja, Pedro Sanz, has visited today the first installation of renewable energy destined to the point of consumption and that includes a vertical axis wind turbine.

Vertical axis wind turbines

The President of the Autonomous Government of La Rioja, Pedro Sanz.This hybrid installation, a mini wind-solar turbine developed by the Rioja-based company Kliux Energies, can be found on the premises of Talleres Morte – an industrial partner of the company – in Pradejón.

The most noteworthy aspects of this installation patented by Kliux Energies are the vertical axis wind turbine with eight blades, which are in a vertical position with respect to the support, and its small size – 9 metres tall. Both characteristics distinguish it from traditional wind turbines.

Its design makes this innovative system the new tailor-made solution for energy generation at the point of consumption. This wind turbine can be installed in urban areas or off-grid areas, in companies, housing, public buildings, plots of land, etc. It adapts to energy requirements and the economic possibilities of any user.

Vertical axis wind turbines provide several advantages, compared to those with a horizontal axis, when using with small powers and in different environments: they are always facing the wind; they turn with low wind speeds; its speed is self-limited; they are very silent; they are more aesthetically attractive because of their small size; they are resistant; they have a long useful life; and they require minimum maintenance work. In short, they are effective and efficient when it comes to maximizing electricity production.
